Upgraded water meters will be installed and maintained at no cost to the homeowner. There will be no change to your billing cycle.

As water meters age, they lose their ability to accurately record water use. Some of the meters still in use in Toronto have exceeded their intended service life. As a result, many meters have been under registering the volume of water used.

City policy is such that no back charges will be made to accounts that have previously been under charged.

All new water meters are tested to ensure accuracy and to meet or exceed American Water Works Association specifications prior to being delivered and installed. The new meters will accurately register all water consumption.
